Julian Electric begins to find it’s footing focusing on special/custom controls work and motor repair.
Kenneth A. Julian, son of Victor, leaves Grumman Aerospace to join Julian Electric.

Julian Electric continues to expand in product offers and space. Construction begins on the Blackhawk Drive facility in Westmont, IL to house growing control panel product line. Concurrently, sales begin to rise on wire harnesses, and a new over-molded/sealed JEI battery cable product is developed for Agricultural Equipment and Heavy Truck markets.
The new Blackhawk facility sees consistent growth, and Battery Cable division begins important partnerships with Freightliner, Paccar, Mack, Volvo-White and International Harvester. Battery Cable production moved to separate facility in LaGrange, IL in 1986.

To support customers' Mexican manufacturing facilities as a strategic supplier, Julian Electric expands to Saltillo, México with 40,000 sq ft of manufacturing and office space.
50,000 ft added to Saltillo facility to allow for expansion of automotive programs and support of line sequencing strategies and customer returnable container programs. Julian Electric de México now includes 90,000 sq ft of space, employing 120 people.
30,000 ft added to Saltillo facility; now totaling 120,000 ft and 200 employees.
