Process Engineer

The Process Engineer is responsible for designing and implementing manufacturing processes and equipment using CAD technology. The process engineer will also identify and develop processes and equipment needed to produce specific products, parts, and components.

Costing & Quoting:

– Generating cost quotes on new parts.
– Maintenance of labor and Operation Standards in Vantage.
– Maintenance of Methods and BOMS (Bills of Material) on all current and new BC parts.
– Maintaining electronic process sheets and drawings for all BC parts.
– Maintaining Master Engineering/Quote files for all BC parts.

CAD – Customer Interface and Part Design:

– Creating and detailing part assembly drawings where required for customers.
– Issuing/Assigning Julian Electric part numbers.
– Component (i.e. Terminals, Feed Thrus, Molded parts/connectors) design when required.
– Customer point of contact for all engineering interface (drawings, technical documents, etc.). Software.

Technical Documents and Specifications:

– Review and maintenance for all customer specifications (on file, current, implemented via work instructions and process sheets, visual aids, training, etc).

Manufacturing – Quality (Julian Electric Operations):

– Support plant and work with plant processes, efficiency, layouts, etc. (Lean Initiatives)
– New production cell and process design and layout design.
– Corrective Action Process (Preventive Action Process) – mistake proofing, poke-yoke, visual aids, training, etc.

Quality Assurance & Inspection:

– 8D Corrective Action, Root Cause Analysis and closure on all quality rejects.
– Customer liaison and contact on quality issue resolution.
– Control Plans and Process Improvements to prevent re-occurrences.
– PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) Submissions to OEM customers.
– Support of Customer STA visit site audits.
– Support training of operators.

Sales:

– Customer support – sample generation, prototype development, engineering contact and liaison between Julian Electric and OEM engineering.
– All customer support and contact is sales indirectly.
– Customer visits (support new projects, engineering concerns, quality concerns).
– Sense of urgency for implementing preventative recurrence measures with supplier’s part process.
– Support and promote improvements on environmental, health and safety according to the EMS policy.
– Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

– Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Quality /Electrical/ Engineering.
– Experience with ISO standards and supplier quality auditing (ISO TS Internal Auditor is a plus).
– Experience in TS16949 preferable.
– Must have demonstrated detailed knowledge of APQP and PPAP processes and implementation.

Production Coordinator

The Production Coordinator will ensure employees meet and adhere to safety, quality and production objectives. Thru extensive coaching and direction the production supervisor will oversee, plan, and assign work to the business unit. This position will also support JEI polices and recommend improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Responsibilities:

– Ensure that lines are meeting scheduled demand, run rates and all objectives set by creating a conducive team based work environment.
– Manage adequate line staffing according to production schedule forecasts including approving vacation requests and re-balancing production lines.
– Streamline operations by establishing and implementing projects, involving cycle time reduction, capacity increase, rework and scrap reduction, quality improvements, and other value-added enhancements.
– Recommend operator training by identifying performance deficiencies.
– Maintains and inputs accurate production records and reports provided weekly/monthly or as requested. – – Manage and update line side metric boards.
– Participate and recommend disciplinary action when necessary and request to management to start PIP’s (Performance Improvement Plans).
– Schedule and participate in performance reviews for production personnel.
– Support all continuous improvement initiatives presented by Julian Electric.
– Keeps effective open communication by relaying information to production.
– Assist Engineering and Quality to develop and implement business unit performance.
– Maintains positive business relationships with contractors, vendors, and auditors.
– Assist in the implementation of new projects within the business unit.

Authority:

– Accept or deny vacation submissions.
– Carry out disciplinary action through the use of progressive discipline.
– Request performance improvement plans.
– Move operators between lines or business units as it complies with the training matrix.

POSITION PROFILE

Education:

– Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field required.

Required Competencies:

– Experience in a high-volume make to order business.
– Excellent knowledge in Microsoft Suite.
– Effective conflict resolution methods.
– Familiarity the Lean Manufacturing tools and processes.
– Maintain a high level of professionalism and respect.
– Bilingual in both English and Spanish a plus.

Skills:

– Problem solving methodologies.
– Ability to lead and motivate team.
– Ability to prioritize multiple projects and requests.
– Highly motivated, Energetic, and enthusiastic personality.

Experience:

– At least 2 years in manufacturing industry.
– At least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
– Experience in the analysis of cause and effect.
– Experience in Lean techniques.
– Experience in ISO 9001 (TS-16949 a plus) and ISO 14001.

Production Systems Engineer

The Production Systems Engineer is an active member of the manufacturing management team who will oversee all the production members with in the assigned zone. Directly responsible for safety, quality, and adherence to the production schedule while being the leading driver in JEI continues improvement methodologies. Responsible for implementation of production processes and procedures, leading productivity improvements with project-based activities, including new product introduction and manufacturing cell design to reduce waste, improve quality, safety, and reduce operating costs. Manage zone KPIs and ensure preventative actions are taken to maximize success.

Responsibilities:

– Oversee Production Support, line leaders and all production personnel within the business unit.
– Ensure that lines are meeting scheduled production demand and established run rates.
– Coordinate with customer service to expedite material as needed.
– Communicate to purchasing in regard to material shortages or stock outages.
– Rotate operators as needed between business units in accordance with training matrix and training procedure.
– Organize plant start up and shut down schedules to ensure minimum loss of production time.
– Assist with shop floor layout and cell designs.
– Design fixtures and tooling for assembly tasks.
– Reduce variability in manufacturing by providing standard work methods and work instructions.
– Ensure product and process quality meets specifications required.
– Oversee installation of machinery and equipment.
– Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements and equipment layout.
– Remove waste from production processes where possible.
– Actively participates and promotes the JEI Continuous Improvement Culture including, Safety Committee, 5’S Audit Team, KAIZEN Improvement Teams, and Quality Corrective Action Teams.
– Carry out/audit FMEAs, (Failure Mode Effects Analysis) / Control Plan process documentation and implement improvements.
– Poka-yoke (error proofing) where possible to prevent errors.
– Investigate production and process issues providing technical support and training.
– Manage the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
– Manage Training of people within work group.
– Ensure all company policies, processes and procedures are being met and followed including, but not limited to, code of conduct, employee hand book, quality and safety policies.
